Notes: Developed as the primary “ship-of-the-line” for the Elasian Navy during the mid-2340’s, the Vorchan-class Warcruiser replaced the aging and outdated Kolach-class that served during the 2200’s. The new class proved itself to be highly effective in protecting Elasia’s trade routes and borders from pirate attacks.
Equipped with modern weaponry and shielding, these vessels often travel in pairs and are thought to be a match for any single Klingon or Starfleet vessel.
Most of these vessels were updated in 2378 shortly after the end of the Dominion War, as both the Elasian Navy and Starfleet felt that they could be used to bolster Starfleets somewhat diminished numbers, and are often seen performing many of the same duties as a Starfleet patrol would perform. These upgrades included the fitting of new pulse fire photon torpedo launchers similar to those aboard a Sovereign-class, as well as upgraded shields, weapons and pulse cannons. Additionally the entire fleet was fitted with Starfleet Designed Warp Cores, giving them more power than the somewhat antiquated ones that had been acquired from the Klingons in the original designs.
